A Wander Around Cabbagetown With Toronto Photo Walks Part One.

  We've been getting a lot of grey Saturdays of late, and counter intuitive, I shot colour film, in this case two rolls (more next post) from my Fuji Superia 400 stash, sadly Fujifilm discontinued that film and buying and relabling film made at Eastman Kodak who also make for Lomography. Of course the Superia 400 had to go through my F4, I traded in my chrome Nikon FM for a MB-23 Battery which took 6 AA batteries and turned my F4 into an F4E. Sadly the autofocus point was still a bit flaky. No bother, I use my F4(E) as a manual focus camera, now with a really fast built in motor drive.  Toronto Photo Walks has some great programming for those who are keen to get out there to photograph Toronto and surrounding area and are a friendly bunch. Haven't been to Cabbagetown, the Toronto Film Shooters did serveral walks through the neighbourhood usually starting across the Don Valley in Riverdale and wind up at the Stout Pub.  Camera: Nikon F4E, Nikkor Ai lenses.  Film: Fuji Superia 40

Barnack Madness, What Was I Thinking?

 My last adventures with Scewmount Barnack Leicas didn't end well, on the few occasions I tried my brother's IIIf and IIIg, I botched the loading and got 36 exposures on one frame. I was quite content to just shoot with my M3 and M4-2, even though I wanted to get a IIIg because Alex got dad's from the estate.  Logic has no place shooting with a Barnack Leica, if the cliche film photography slows you down, working with a III series body is an exercise in zen. First you have deal with bottom loading, wind the film advance before adjusting shutter speed and be careful where you point your camea as bright sunlight can incinerate a rubberized silk shutter cloth instantly.  That said, Joan at Burlington Camera had this red dial Leica IIIf from the mid 1950s with a pre war Elmar 50 F3.5 lens, on the used shelf, I saw it, handled the camera, and put it back. In a fit of camera GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome) a few weeks later I came back in and bought the camera. I wonder if Joan a
